It was against this backdrop, amidst the haunting tales of lives lost too soon and families shattered due to the lack of adequate Intensive Care Units (ICUs), that Mission ICU was born in the year 2020.

For Mission ICU, it was the realization that while urban India had access to top-tier healthcare, our rural counterparts were left grappling in the dark. Reports indicated that a significant number of deaths in rural areas could be averted with timely and intensive medical care. The vision was clear: Every life is valuable, and geography should not determine one’s access to life-saving critical care.
The Early Days: Building Foundations
The early days were marked by challenges. With limited funds, a vast country to cover, and systemic issues to combat, the journey seemed daunting. But the power of a vision, coupled with unwavering determination, can move mountains. Our initial focus was to understand the needs of these rural communities better. A startling revelation was the severe shortage of ICU beds. In many districts, the availability was less than 5 ICU beds per 100,000 population, a far cry from the recommended standard.

Fast forward to today, Mission ICU’s impact is not just a dream but a palpable reality across the nation. Here are some astounding numbers that testify to our journey:
9 states covered: From the hilly terrains of the northeast to the coastal belts of the west, our presence resonates in 9 Indian states.
20 strategic locations: Mission ICU has reached 20 key locations, ensuring that critical care isn’t just a luxury for the urban populace.
200 ICU beds in the remotest parts: A number that translates into countless lives saved, dreams preserved, and families kept intact.
Moreover, our focused interventions have resulted in monumental changes in ICU bed capacities in many districts. For instance, Tamenglong experienced a whopping 200% increase, while places like Buldhana and Dhule saw their capacities bolstered by 50%.
